Maccabi Tel Aviv Plans Foreign Reinforcements After Keeping Dor Peretz
Maccabi Tel Aviv has begun preparing in earnest for the 2026/27 season, and club officials view keeping Dor Peretz as a statement of intent. That message was reinforced by Jack Angelidis, who said at the kit launch that he, Micky Goldhar and Steven Vanhaaren are building a stronger team that will compete for every title.
The club is now expected to look for two foreign signings, a striker and a central defender, to strengthen the squad. One of the main issues is Yoon Nikolaescu, who is still injured, has not recovered at the desired pace and is only expected to return to full fitness in November. As a result, Maccabi may freeze the striker out of the squad until at least January.
Another position Maccabi wants to upgrade is the wing. Amir Saidy, who was one of the most important players for the cup holder in the second half of last season, has not arrived in Israel yet, forcing the club to rethink its plans. Karwin Andrade is also expected to miss about eight matches because of the events of the State Cup final, but he will go straight to training camp in France. Ali Mohamed Kamara has already landed in Israel and joined Tyrese Asante and Christian Bliss.
