Moshe Damayo, formerly the owner of Bnei Yehuda and also a former CEO at Bnei Yehuda, Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Rishon LeZion, has taken on a surprising new role in Israeli football. He has been named senior professional adviser to Maccabi Kiryat Malakhi, which plays in Liga Alef South.
The club said the appointment is part of a broader effort to transform the organization. In its official announcement, Maccabi Kiryat Malakhi said it is “starting a new path” and described Damayo as one of the most influential football executives in Israel over recent decades. It added that he will work closely with the club’s management rights holder, Ezra Lati.
The team said Damayo arrived only days after a new sponsorship and management agreement was signed, underscoring its urgency to move quickly. The club highlighted his long track record, especially his years leading Bnei Yehuda to successful seasons in the Israeli Premier League and European matches, as well as his senior roles at Beitar Jerusalem and his work within the Israel Football Association.
According to the club, Damayo will advise on building the first-team roster, choosing professional staff, and setting the club’s overall sporting strategy. He will also place special emphasis on reorganizing and upgrading the youth and children’s departments. The role will be unpaid, which Damayo sees as a contribution to the football community.
