Matan Levi, a reserve soldier who was called up on the morning of October 7 to the Gaza envelope and was severely wounded in the war, including losing his sight, married his partner Tori earlier this week. Their relationship began in the rehabilitation department at Sheba Medical Center, where Tori came to support him after learning about his injury and because her own mother is blind.
Levi spent two weeks in intensive care at Soroka Medical Center after the injury. During that period, singer Amir Benayoun visited him in the hospital and dedicated the song "Nitzachta Iti Hakol" to him. At the wedding, Benayoun performed the same song as Levi walked to the chuppah, creating what the report described as a moving full-circle moment.
In a video from the ceremony, Benayoun congratulated the couple, saying, "Mazal tov Tori and Matan, dear ones." Levi also shared the clip and wrote to his new wife words from the song: "Thank God he sent you, you won everything with me, and we will continue to win everything."
After two weeks in a coma, Levi woke to extreme pain, which he later said was so severe that "they really scared me." He remained hospitalized for nine months, undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at Sheba. He has said the recovery felt like a rebirth, as he had to relearn basic abilities from the beginning.
