Polish media have reacted to an Israeli report that Stelios Andreou is a candidate to join Maccabi Tel Aviv, adding that his club, Widzew Lodz, has already set its asking price. According to the Polish outlet sport-fm, the transfer would likely require the Israeli Cup holders to pay between €4 million and €5 million.
If that figure is accurate, Andreou would become the most expensive signing in Maccabi Tel Aviv history. The club's previous record purchase was Vidar Kjartansson, who cost €3.5 million.
The report also says the talks are still at an early stage. One Polish comment on the situation said that Andreou's growing momentum suggests he could become one of the most talked-about names of the current summer transfer window.
