Attorney Ayelet Hashachar Saidof, who heads the left-wing group Mothers on the Frontline, said she plans to block access to Bnei Brak on Friday evening in response to car protests and anti-draft demonstrations. In an interview with ynet, she said, “We are going on Friday to block Bnei Brak. Blockades will be answered with blockades. We will block there before Shabbat starts, and disrupt the lives of those people.”
Saidof warned residents of the ultra-Orthodox city and the broader Haredi public that “their blockades will not go unanswered.” She added that, in her view, “in every Haredi protest a disaster has happened,” accused them of having “no regard for human life,” and said the Israeli public was tired of their behavior.
She said that if they do not “connect with reality” and understand that there are state laws, and that the police are not restoring order, “we will restore order and disrupt theirs.” Saidof also said, “We did not send our children to die defending the homeland for this.”
She further accused the police and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of enabling the protests, saying the police allowed the demonstrators to do whatever they wanted, that no other public has been allowed to shut down an entire country, and calling the protesters “anarchists” and “criminals” who should enlist in the military. She said they receive support from Israeli police and from Netanyahu, whom she accused of having “struck a deal with the Haredim and trading in the blood of our children.”
