An active-duty IDF soldier was found overnight, between Wednesday and Thursday, bound in the center of the Palestinian town of Tarkumia, west of Hebron. Israeli police rushed to the scene after intelligence and coordination with Palestinian security mechanisms indicated that a man in an IDF uniform was tied up there.
When officers arrived, they found the soldier with his hands restrained by zip ties and surrounded by a large crowd of local residents. Police rescued him and took him first to the Hebron police station, then handed him over to the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division, which opened an inquiry into the unusual incident.
According to the soldier, who was identified as an active-duty serviceman from the Bedouin diaspora, the episode began with a criminal dispute involving several local residents. He said the suspects took him into the Palestinian town, tied him up and threatened his life. Police also said he was unarmed when he was found.
The investigation is continuing. The report was published on June 25, 2026, at 09:15.
