Reports in the United States say LaMelo Ball may be nearing an exit from the Charlotte Hornets, with Minnesota and Toronto both trying to land the point guard. The story surfaced after the second round of the NBA draft, which was held overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.
ESPN’s Shams Charania said several teams are currently pursuing the All-Star guard. He added that Charlotte is involved in the situation and that Ball does want to remain with the Hornets, but the team is receiving “aggressive offers.”
“if the required price is met, he could definitely move,” Charania said, adding that the situation could develop over the next 24 to 48 hours. Ball’s status therefore appears tied to whether another team is willing to meet Charlotte’s asking price.
This season, Ball averaged 20.1 points and 7.1 assists. Charlotte finished 38-44 and was eliminated by Orlando in the play-in tournament.
