Diplomats overseeing the International Criminal Court in The Hague have decided that chief prosecutor Karim Khan should be dismissed over an inappropriate sexual relationship with a junior staff member, Reuters reported, citing two copies of the decision. The reported ruling was made by the court’s supervisory body and is expected to form the basis of a formal vote on Khan’s future.
That vote is due to take place at the Assembly of States Parties, which has 125 member states, in New York on July 24. The decision now places Khan’s tenure in jeopardy and sets up the next stage of proceedings by the ICC’s member states.
