The Military Police admitted during a special discussion that the IDF had suspended proactive arrest operations for draft dodgers in recent months. The focus during September was on border crossings, where 212 individuals evading military service were apprehended. Of these, an estimated 163 are from the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) community. Most of the 212 apprehended were brought to disciplinary hearings.

Analysis of the activity revealed that the Taba border crossing has become a significant hub for such attempts, with 20 individuals, believed by military officials to be Haredi, caught trying to leave Israel. The Population and Immigration Authority stated that identified "loopholes" were quickly closed and that individuals committing "border theft" were handed over to the Israel Police. The authority also noted its use of technological capabilities to enhance enforcement.

During the discussion, which included Deputy Legal Advisor to the Government Gil Limon, Military Police Commander, police representatives, the Population Authority, and the State Attorney's Office, it was acknowledged that proactive arrests were frozen for two months due to the focus on border crossings. "The proactive enforcement will resume starting in October," stated the Chief Military Police Officer. "This activity will be coordinated in advance between the Military Police and the relevant Israel Police stations to allow for joint preparation and police response, as needed, to unusual events during the activity."

Additionally, it was reported that since the beginning of the year until about two weeks prior, only 360 indictments were filed against military service evaders. Of these, 49 indictments were against individuals estimated by military prosecution to be from the Haredi community. A representative from military prosecution noted that while the number of indictments is not high, there was a slight increase in September, partly due to the proactive operations at border crossings.
