A large-scale protest by thousands of Haredi car owners was scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with convoys leaving 19 locations across Israel and heading to Military Prison 10. The demonstration was framed by organizers as a show of force in support of Torah study and against what they described as the persecution and arrest of yeshiva students and young married students.
According to the report, internal communication lines in major Hasidic courts issued urgent instructions to participate. Belz opened a special registration branch on its “Kol Belz” line, Vizhnitz called on all drivers to travel in an organized and timed manner, and Chabad-like internal messages from other courts, including Tchernobyl, Satmar, Canz, Nadvorna and Sadigura, all urged mass participation. In Tchernobyl, the rebbe’s aide, Rabbi Zeelig Shchter, issued a direct instruction that any Hasid with a car must join the protest.
The convoys were to be supplied through dedicated phone numbers, which would provide participants with propaganda material, signs and detailed route maps. The report said the event could disrupt major transportation arteries nationwide. It also said police were considering a dramatic step to stop the cars.
The article cited an audio recording in which Rabbi Moshe Maya, the elder member of Shas’s Council of Torah Sages, endorsed the protest, saying, “This is excellent, it is חובה, maybe this will help us fulfill the duty of protest,” and repeated, “This is excellent, it is excellent.” The organizer announced that the protest would be followed live throughout the day.
