On Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., tens of thousands of drivers are expected to join a large car convoy protest launching simultaneously from 19 starting points across Haredi population centers in Israel. Organizers say the coordinated drive is meant to be a public demonstration of unity and “sanctification of God’s name” in support of the honor of Torah and its learners.
The route map was prepared in advance to keep the convoys moving smoothly from cities and neighborhoods nationwide. Drivers will be able to decorate their vehicles with posters, flags and other materials supplied by activists at the departure points. The listed launch sites include Elad, Ashdod, Beitar, Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Givat Ze’ev, Haifa, Hatzor, Tiberias, Jerusalem, Nof HaGalil, Netanya, Modi’in Illit, Emanuel, Arad, Afula, Safed, Kiryat Gat and Rehovot.
The organizing committee stressed that participants must follow all safety, driving and conduct instructions. The convoy has been coordinated with the Israel Police and is described as legal, with an explicit demand to avoid provocations, clashes, or disputes with security forces, civilians or passersby. Organizers also said no roadblocks or interruptions should be initiated in any form.
According to the rules, the cars must remain in the right lane, travel at a steady speed of about 50 kph, keep an extra-safe distance from the vehicle ahead and avoid stopping in the middle of the route, which could lead to fines. Drivers were told to follow updates only through the internal hotline at 03-5501044 ext. 3, while urgent technical problems can be reported to the command center at ext. 0. Organizers also urged participants to bring water, food, full fuel tanks and reading materials for possible delays. For legal emergencies, attorney R. Natan Rosenblatt can be reached at 052-7632344.
