  • Average gross salary in Israel reached 14,534 shekels in July 2026.
  • Real wage growth was 1.8% year-over-year.
  • High-tech salaries are more than double the national average.
  • Service industries, like hospitality, show significantly lower wages.
  • The number of salaried positions increased, indicating labor market recovery.
  • Preliminary August data shows continued salary increases.

Israel's average gross monthly salary for salaried employees reached 14,534 shekels in July 2026, a 3.4% increase from the previous year, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). After accounting for inflation, the real wage increase was 1.8%, bringing the average to 11,536 shekels. The number of salaried positions also grew by 0.4% in July compared to June, reaching 4.251 million, and was up 0.8% year-over-year. This indicates a recovery in the labor market, with a 1% annual increase in salaried positions observed between May and July, following a 1.3% annual decrease earlier in the year.

Significant wage disparities persist across economic sectors. The high-tech industry reported an average salary of 34,301 shekels in July, more than double the national average, despite a slight 0.3% decrease in high-tech positions year-over-year. High-tech jobs constituted 9.3% of all salaried positions. Within high-tech, scientific research and development paid the highest at 37,578 shekels, followed by computer programming and consulting at 36,052 shekels. Telecommunications services offered the lowest average salary within the sector at 22,432 shekels.

In contrast, service industries continue to show lower wage levels. The information and communication sector led all industries with an average salary of 33,689 shekels, while the food and hospitality sector had the lowest average at just 6,695 shekels. The largest economic sector, non-financial companies, accounted for 63% of all jobs (2.68 million positions) with an average salary of 15,896 shekels.

Preliminary data for August suggests the upward trend in salaries is continuing. The CBS estimates the average gross salary for August at 14,121 shekels, a 4% increase compared to August 2025. For Israeli workers specifically, the average salary was 14,448 shekels, up 4.2%. The number of salaried positions held by Israeli workers in August was 4.158 million, a 0.9% increase from the previous August, though it represented a 2.2% decrease from July 2026.
