IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir met yesterday with rabbis from the religious Zionist yeshiva world, the IDF Spokesperson said. The meeting also included Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, Ground Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Nadav Lotan, Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Itai Ofir, Chief Military Rabbi Brig. Gen. Eyal Karim, and the head of the Planning and Personnel Directorate, Brig. Gen. Shai Tayeb.
During the discussion, the army’s manpower needs were presented, with emphasis on the growing demand for personnel because of current operational challenges and the scope of missions across the combat sectors. Zamir told the rabbis that the IDF is still short of thousands of fighters.
He also stressed that expanding the integration of women into key roles and combat positions is of “enormous operational importance,” and said the IDF will continue working to widen that integration.
