John Pantsil, the former Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv player, was involved in a heated exchange with Jude Bellingham during England’s World Cup match against Ghana. Pantsil, now an assistant coach for Ghana, is remembered in Israel for his goal celebration with an Israeli flag and later played in the Premier League.
The incident happened at halftime of a 0-0 game on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, after a hard foul on Jerome Opoku. Bellingham was seen confronting Pantsil, who shouted at him in response. Both men were recorded saying, “Fuck you,” before they were separated.
Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz also moved toward Bellingham during the altercation. The second half began without further incident, and Bellingham was later substituted for tactical reasons. The match ended scoreless.
