Settlers Attack Palestinians With Clubs During Olive Harvest, IDF Investigates

Palestinian media reported on Saturday that several Palestinians were injured in attacks by settlers in the West Bank during the olive harvest season. Among the injured was a 50-year-old man who was severely beaten with clubs in the village of Usrin, south of Nablus. Video footage circulated showing him lying on the ground with bloodstains on his body and face.

The IDF confirmed an attack by Israeli rioters in Usrin and stated that military forces were dispatched to the scene. "Upon the forces' arrival, damage was identified and searches were conducted for the rioters, who fled before the forces arrived at the location," the IDF said. Police investigators have begun collecting evidence and testimonies for an ongoing investigation.

The IDF condemned the incident, stating that such events "harm defense and counter-terrorism efforts in the area." Palestinian news agency Wafa claimed that settlers, "under the protection of IDF forces," escalated their attacks on farmers and their property in several West Bank locations during the olive harvest. The report alleged that farmers were attacked in Usrin, Burin, and Beita, with several people injured, including the 50-year-old in Usrin and a 47-year-old in Beita who was allegedly beaten by IDF soldiers.

Damage to olive trees and crops was reported in Al-Murayr, and two young men were arrested during the harvest in Aqrabah. Palestinian reports also claimed the IDF delayed residents attempting to reach their land in the Al-Arma area of Beita. Settlers also reportedly set fire to Palestinian fields in Beit Imrin and Jaba, north-west of Nablus.

These attacks come amid a rise in violence by "hilltop youth," which complicates the military's efforts and increases international pressure on Israel, with warnings of further sanctions. Earlier in the week, around 100 Jewish rioters attacked the village of Jalud near Nablus, setting fire to a Palestinian family's home and other structures, injuring three Border Police officers.
