The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, met with Yaniv Hayun, an Israeli passenger who helped neutralize the co-pilot of a FlyDubai flight. Ambassador Huckabee conveyed thanks from U.S. President Donald Trump and the American nation to Hayun for his bravery.

"I had the honor of thanking hero Yaniv Hayun for his courage in saving a plane full of people from disaster," Huckabee stated. Hayun recounted that he and another crew member intervened when the co-pilot attacked. Hayun grabbed the assailant and began pulling him from the cockpit. Other passengers then joined in, helping to subdue and restrain the co-pilot using headphones and zip ties.

Following the removal of the attacker from the cockpit, Hayun observed the plane was still in a severe bank. Despite lacking pilot training, Hayun briefly took control of the aircraft's yoke to stabilize it until a flight crew member on board could assume command.
