Israel's Council for Higher Education has approved a pilot program allowing Israeli academic institutions to run full online degree programs in any foreign language for students overseas. The temporary order is designed to strengthen the international standing of Israeli academia.
Under the new arrangement, institutions will not need a separate approval process for each individual program. Instead, they will be able to use a shortened declarative track to open these full online programs abroad.
The pilot will remain in effect for the next three years. Education Minister and Council Chairman Yoav Kisch said, "Precisely at a time when Israeli academic institutions are facing political attacks and boycott attempts around the world, we are choosing to expand the Israeli presence on the international stage."
