Police from the Netivot station stopped a 14-year-old boy who was driving without a license, with two other minors in the car. The incident happened over the weekend during a targeted police operation in the city.
Officers noticed the vehicle driving in an unusual manner on its rims near the local police roundabout, with sparks coming off it as it moved. They signaled the driver to stop, but he ignored them and sped away.
Police launched a chase that ended with the car being stopped. The driver and his two passengers were all minors, ages 14 to 15. The 14-year-old driver was not legally permitted to drive.
All three were detained and transferred to Netivot police for further investigation. Netivot station commander Cmdr. Adi Buchbut said underage driving without a license is a serious and dangerous phenomenon that could end in a major disaster, and credited officers’ alertness and quick response with preventing continued danger to road users.
