During a weekend police operation in Netivot, officers spotted a car driving in a highly unusual condition on its rims, with sparks coming off the wheels near the city’s police roundabout. The officers signaled the driver to stop, but he ignored them and sped away.
Police chased the vehicle and eventually stopped it. Inside were three minors, aged 14 to 15, including a 14-year-old boy who was not licensed to drive.
All three were detained and taken to the Netivot police station for further questioning. The incident was discovered during a proactive patrol by officers from the Netivot station.
Netivot station commander Chief Superintendent Adi Buhbut said that underage driving without a license is “a serious and dangerous phenomenon” that could end in “a heavy disaster.” He said the officers’ quick response prevented further danger to road users and added that police will keep acting against anyone who drives without a license, including anyone who lets an unauthorized person use a vehicle.
