A year after a missile struck a building on HaGalil Street in the Nve Sha'anan neighborhood of Haifa, the site is moving ahead with an urban renewal plan. RENEW said it secured the required majority of apartment owners to demolish two buildings in the complex and replace them with one new eight-story building.
The existing site contains 15 old apartments. Under the plan, they will be replaced by 29 apartments in the new structure. The project was submitted for advancement in May, following last year’s incident in which one of the buildings in the complex took a direct hit and was evacuated.
Since then, the residents have been living in temporary housing solutions. According to the company, the necessary majority was reached within a week of the first resident signing on. RENEW CEO Avi Peretz said the project is being advanced with the cooperation of the authorities, with the goal of returning residents to a safe environment.
