After Miami landed Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade, US reports say another stunning scenario is at least possible: LeBron James could also end up with the Heat. Yahoo said the idea is still open, describing a James reunion with Miami as unlikely for now, but not something that can be ruled out.
According to the report, the trade has shifted attention away from the futures of Andrew Wiggins and Norman Powell and toward how Miami will build depth around Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. It said the Heat may try to use their mid-level exception to pursue James if he reaches free agency, even though that path is considered a long shot.
The report added that a team featuring James, Antetokounmpo and Adebayo would instantly become one of the NBA’s most intriguing projects, though major financial obstacles would have to be solved first. One quoted line said the situation has changed completely for Miami, and that the Heat are now an “attractive and realistic” destination for James.
Miami is also said to want to keep both Wiggins and Powell while looking for additional pieces through free agency and available salary exceptions. For now, James remains outside the plan, but after one of the biggest trades in franchise history, a reunion is no longer considered completely off the table.
