Mobilized Hasidic Doctor with Dual Citizenship to Serve in Odessa
A Hasidic man with dual citizenship, who was mobilized into the Ukrainian military and detained at the border after Rosh Hashanah, will serve as a doctor in Odessa instead of being deployed to the Kharkiv region. The decision was reached through an agreement brokered by the Jewish community.
Chief Rabbi of Odessa and Southern Ukraine, Avraham Wolff, successfully negotiated the arrangement with Ukrainian military officials. Jonathan Karlinsky, 49, will be assigned to a medical center in Odessa. The local Jewish community has committed to providing Karlinsky with all necessities to observe his religious traditions, including a strict kosher diet and continuous access to a synagogue, mikveh, and other services essential for maintaining his ultra-Orthodox lifestyle.
This resolution was facilitated by the coordinated efforts of religious leaders and military representatives. The community had been closely monitoring the situation and offering comprehensive support to its members.
