Doral Energy Completes Major Solar and Storage Project in Israel
Doral Energy has completed the electrification of its Hadar She'an solar project in the Emek HaMayanot region, a significant undertaking involving an investment of approximately 850 million shekels. The project uniquely combines solar power generation with battery storage, and its full commercial operation across all components is anticipated in the coming months.
With a peak solar capacity of 175 megawatts and a storage capacity of 722 megawatt-hours, Doral claims Hadar She'an is Israel's largest facility integrating solar power and energy storage. The site is directly connected to the national high-voltage transmission grid. Once fully operational, the project is projected to generate enough electricity to power around 50,000 homes, exceeding the combined electricity consumption of Afula, Beit She'an, and Tiberias.
The project, which forecasts annual revenues of approximately 150 million shekels, was developed in partnership with 11 kibbutzim in the Emek HaMayanot region. This collaboration leverages Doral's expertise in energy infrastructure development with the kibbutzim's land and agricultural operations, enabling the large-scale production and storage facility.
"Hadar She'an is Doral's flagship project in Israel and one of the most significant renewable energy projects established here," stated Doral Group CEO Yoni Hanasi. He emphasized the project's role in national energy infrastructure, producing and storing vast amounts of electricity to bolster regional and national energy supply. Hanasi added that this milestone signifies Doral's capacity for large-scale operations and its continued advancement of major projects nationwide.
Itamar Matiash, head of the Emek HaMayanot Regional Council, highlighted the project's demonstration of the region's "energy and entrepreneurial power." He described the collaboration as a pioneering effort and a significant step in positioning Emek HaMayanot as a leading producer of green energy in Israel.
Beyond electricity generation and storage, Doral is exploring the future integration of a server farm at the site, potentially with a capacity of 166 megawatts for computing equipment. This aligns with the company's strategy to connect production and storage facilities with major electricity consumers, particularly data centers, driven by the growing demand for AI and cloud services. Hadar She'an is part of Doral's broader initiative to develop 11 national high-voltage infrastructure projects in Israel, collectively aiming for over 2.5 gigawatts of peak solar capacity and 7.5 gigawatt-hours of storage.
