Thousands March in Samaria to Mark Return to Re-established Settlements

Thousands of Israelis gathered in northern Samaria on Wednesday for the annual Samaria March, a key event during the Sukkot holiday. The march commemorates the re-establishment of two settlements, Ganim and Kadim, which were evacuated 21 years ago as part of the disengagement plan and rebuilt this year. The event began with a mass prayer service in the new settlement of Roei Hadar, formerly known as Ganim.

The marchers, including families from across Israel, are traversing the route from Ganim to Kadim, an area from which four settlements in northern Samaria were uprooted two decades ago. The procession is expected to include government ministers, Knesset members, rabbis, and public figures.

Upon reaching Kadim around 1:00 PM, participants will attend a rally featuring speeches and a performance by singer Beni Landau, who will be joined by Shai David Gasi. Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, stated that the large turnout demonstrates the Israeli people's commitment to northern Samaria and signifies a reconnection with the land. He emphasized the goal of revitalizing the region with thriving communities and families, calling it a correction of a historical injustice.

The Samaria March is the central event of the Sukkot festivities in the region. Following the rally and concert at Kadim, the day's events will conclude. The IDF is providing full security for the march and its participants. Shuttle services are available from the Ganim junction parking area, with access to the region via the Gilboa crossing.
