Hundreds Mark Synagogue Dedication 21 Years After Samaria Evacuation

Hundreds of people gathered in the Samaria settlement of Homesh on Tuesday evening to celebrate the dedication of a synagogue and the bringing of a Torah scroll, marking 21 years since the Israeli disengagement from northern Samaria. The event included a central rally and a performance by singer Binyamin Landau.

Among the attendees were head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan, Deputy Knesset Speaker Limor Son Har Melech, rabbis, residents, activists from "Homesh First," and bereaved families. These families included those of Yehuda Dimantman, Shuli Har Melech, and Idudo Zoldan, all of whom were killed in attacks. During the Torah scroll ceremony, a chuppah was unfurled from the tallit (prayer shawl) of Yitzhak Zeiger, a resident of Shavei Shomron who was murdered in a shooting attack in 2024 and was a supporter of Homesh.

The event commemorated the rebuilding efforts in Homesh, which was evacuated as part of the 2005 disengagement plan. The synagogue is named after Rabbi Kook.
