Palestinian Displacement Stories Take Stage in Cairo Theater

A theatrical performance titled "Deep Voices" is showcasing the experiences of Palestinian displacement at the Isis International Theater Festival for Women in Cairo. The production, a collaboration between Switzerland's Maltidrama Association for Culture and Theater and Palestine's Al-Kasaba Theatre, is directed by Sousan Darouzeh, with Palestinian-Jordanian artist Tahani Salim handling the writing and performance.

The 50-minute show centers on the recurring displacement experienced by Farah Al-Ghoul, a young woman from Gaza. The performance draws from her diaries and testimonies of other women who have faced similar experiences, blending theater, documentary elements, and audio-visual materials.

The premiere was met with significant audience enthusiasm, with tickets selling out and the venue displaying a "full house" sign. Attendees included artists and theater professionals from Egypt and across the Arab world.

The Isis International Theater Festival for Women runs in Cairo until October 2nd, featuring productions from Egypt, other Arab nations, and international participants.
