An approximately 90-year-old pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a truck on Highway 3525, near Kibbutz Be'erot Haim in the western Negev, close to Sderot. Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical teams responded to the scene and found the woman lying on the road, unconscious. After medical examinations, they were forced to pronounce her dead.
The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. MDA paramedic Einav Yeshayahu described the scene as "a difficult incident," noting the pedestrian was found unconscious with no pulse or breathing, suffering from severe, multi-system trauma after being hit by the truck.
Avichai Omsi, commander of ZAKA Sderot, along with volunteers Dovi Margalit, Beni Liberty, and Elyashiv Bohbot, stated that the victim, around 90 years old, sustained extensive injuries from the truck collision. MDA confirmed her death at the scene, and ZAKA volunteers worked to respectfully handle the deceased and collect evidence.
This incident follows a series of recent fatal road accidents. On Tuesday, a 19-year-old died after slipping off his motorcycle on Highway 12, between Eilat and Tzahala Junction. The day before, a man in his 30s was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 232 in the Gaza envelope. Two other men, both around 40, sustained moderate injuries and were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.
