Mohammed Dahlan Emerges as Potential Gaza Leader Amidst War

Mohammed Dahlan, a prominent Palestinian figure exiled since 2007, is making a significant comeback to the forefront of Palestinian politics, particularly in discussions surrounding the "day after" in Gaza. Operating from his position as a close advisor to Mohammed bin Zayed in the UAE, Dahlan is leveraging substantial financial and political backing to promote a new vision for Gaza's governance.

Through secret meetings in Cairo and direct calls with key figures like Jared Kushner and Hamas officials, Dahlan is advocating for a new civilian administration. His aim is to break the existing axis of the Palestinian Authority and Qatari funding, presenting himself as an alternative leader for the Gaza Strip, explicitly stating "neither Abbas nor Hamas."
