Travel Deals Emerge After Jewish Holidays With Lower Airfares

Following the conclusion of the High Holidays, a significant drop in airfare and vacation package prices is expected as demand decreases with the return to work and school routines. Some destinations and packages are already seeing price reductions of around 20% compared to peak holiday rates, with further decreases anticipated in certain areas.

Nir Mazor, Vice President of Kesher Al Ha'Avira, a tourism services company, noted that alongside popular destinations like Greece, Cyprus, Georgia, and Romania, attractive opportunities will also arise for Israelis in cities such as Prague, Budapest, and Rome, which are suitable for the autumn season. Mazor stated that for those flexible with their travel dates, the period immediately after the Sukkot holiday presents a "significant window of opportunity" for considerably cheaper international vacations, lasting until the start of the Christian holiday season and Christmas markets in early November.

Kesher Al Ha'Avira is launching special deals for the post-High Holidays period. These include a 4-star hotel package in Rhodes from October 6-9, including breakfast and luggage, for $499 per person. A 7-night stay in Batumi, Georgia, with 4 nights of accommodation and transfers included, is available from October 6-13 for $589 per person. Additionally, a 3-night package to Albania at the Doro City Hotel (4-star) from October 4-7, with breakfast and luggage, is priced at $450 per person.

According to Israel Airports Authority (IAA) data from 2025, Greece was the leading country for passenger traffic from Ben Gurion Airport, followed by the US, UAE, Italy, and Cyprus. Georgia also saw substantial numbers with over 908,000 passengers. In October 2025, Athens was the top individual destination with nearly 988,000 passengers year-to-date, followed by Larnaca and Dubai. Batumi and Rhodes recorded over 305,000 and 365,000 passengers respectively in 2025.

Looking ahead to the 2026 High Holidays, the IAA projected Greece, Cyprus, the US, Italy, and the UAE as the most popular destinations.
