Flight Prices Plummet After Jewish Holidays, Saving Travelers Up to 74%

Flight prices for international travel from Israel are set to drop significantly after the High Holidays, with savings of up to 74% available for savvy travelers. A "Flight Hunter" analysis reveals that popular destinations like Rome, Budapest, and Athens will see substantial price reductions compared to the peak holiday season.

During the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur period, demand for flights surges as families utilize school breaks, driving up ticket costs. However, those who can postpone their trips by a few weeks can expect to pay considerably less. The analysis compared average holiday prices with post-holiday fares across eight destinations, finding decreases in all of them.

Rome leads the price drop, with average fares falling from $620 during the holidays to approximately $160 afterward, a 74% reduction and a saving of $460 per passenger. Budapest also sees a sharp decline, from an average of $565 to $164, saving $401 per passenger. Other destinations like Athens, Tbilisi, Prague, Paris, New York, and London also offer significant savings.

For families, the savings can amount to thousands of dollars. A family of five traveling to Rome after the holidays could save around $2,300 on flights alone, with potential savings reaching over $2,500 for Paris and New York. This allows for either a more budget-friendly vacation or more funds for accommodation and activities.

The price decrease is attributed to a combination of falling demand after the holidays and an increase in flight availability on certain routes. Airlines like Wizz Air are increasing their weekly flights to destinations such as Budapest, Rome, and Athens in October. This combination of lower demand and increased supply is expected to boost competition and lead to more affordable fares.

While prices are expected to drop, travelers are advised not to wait until the last minute, as the cheapest fares are not guaranteed for all dates or flights. It is also important to check ticket conditions and baggage fees before booking. Flexibility of a few weeks can translate into hundreds of dollars in savings per passenger, making post-holiday travel a much more economical option for families.
