Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir Slams U2's Bono Over Gaza Remarks

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir sharply criticized U2 frontman Bono on Tuesday, following remarks the musician made in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. Bono had reportedly compared Ben-Gvir's rhetoric regarding Gaza residents to that of Nazi war criminal Heinrich Himmler and questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to keep Ben-Gvir in his government to maintain the coalition.

In response, Ben-Gvir called Bono's stance "hypocrisy" and stated, "Bono did not compare Hamas murderers to Himmler, only the one who protects Jews from the next massacre." He added, "Jews have finished apologizing for their right to live. We forgo your sympathy for dead Jews, we prefer to stay alive with your criticism."

Ben-Gvir also suggested that if Bono truly cared about Gaza's residents, he should help them immigrate to Ireland, claiming they "beg to immigrate from Gaza" and would have a "wonderful future" there. The minister concluded by asserting that Israel would no longer manage its security based on the applause of "hypocritical supporters of terrorism," emphasizing his priority is saving Jewish lives.
