Defense Minister Katz Condemns Settler Violence Hindering Counter-Terror Operations

Defense Minister Israel Katz visited Judea and Samaria on Sunday, meeting with Central Command chief Major General Avi Blout to condemn recent acts of arson in the Palestinian village of Jalud. Katz stated that the actions of a "handful of rioters" in the Benjamin region, who attacked security forces and set fire to Palestinian homes and property, are actively disrupting counter-terrorism efforts.

"I see firsthand the amazing work our forces are doing to thwart Palestinian terrorism," Katz said. "Against this important security work, the severity of the actions of a handful of rioters in Benjamin stands out. They are, with their own hands, disrupting the thwarting of Palestinian terrorism and diverting forces from their missions."

The minister emphasized that these rioters do not represent the broader settler community and called for those responsible to be brought to justice. The incident highlights a growing concern within Israeli security circles regarding settler vigilantism impacting operational effectiveness.
