Majd al-Krum Authorities Urge Calm Amidst Right-Wing Provocations

Tensions are escalating in the al-Rous area of Majd al-Krum during the Sukkot holiday, with right-wing activists reportedly engaging in provocations and disseminating inciting videos against Arab residents. Local authorities, led by the Majd al-Krum local council and the popular committee, are actively working to prevent any confrontations.

Suleiman Salibi, head of the Majd al-Krum local council, stated that the council is monitoring the situation daily and emphasized that residents will not be drawn into provocations but will not remain silent against incitement. The local council and popular committee issued a warning about the ongoing provocations in al-Rous and announced their intention to approach the police to demand intervention and an end to the incitement.

Salibi explained that the council and committee are holding continuous meetings to manage the situation, with a decision to avoid direct confrontation to prevent the provocations from escalating into clashes that would serve those seeking to inflame tensions. He noted that the council is monitoring the situation around the clock in cooperation with the popular committee and local youth, urging residents not to approach the al-Rous area individually.

The al-Rous area has been a site of tension since a settlement outpost was established and later evacuated earlier in the month, sparking widespread popular protests against its presence. Salibi revealed that he has met with regional police leadership to convey concerns about continued incitement and the potential for field confrontations. He stressed the need for the police to address the incitement itself, not just prevent clashes.

The council anticipates official intervention, warning that continued incitement without resolution could lead to uncontainable conflict, especially with activists present in the area and inciting content circulating on social media. Salibi reiterated the council's commitment to protecting residents and land, calling for coordinated actions and urging adherence to decisions from local organizing bodies. He indicated that if official intervention is lacking, the council and popular committee might reactivate peaceful, organized popular protests.
