Israeli Soccer Team Criticized for Lack of Fight in Loss to Ireland

A panel of Israeli sports commentators has strongly criticized the Israeli national soccer team following their "humiliating" 3-0 loss to Ireland. The commentators on the "Zion 3" program expressed disbelief at the team's apparent lack of preparedness, aggression, and focus compared to the Irish squad.

Moses Ziat pointed out specific defensive errors, citing Raz Shlomo on the first goal and Stav Lemkin on the third, and lamented the team's overall failure to match Ireland's intensity. "You see Raz Shlomo in the first goal, you see Lemkin in the third goal. Even in the level of football they projected all week: 'We're coming for football, coming for the ball,' where were you?! Even at that level, they fell totally. At any level you look at it," Ziat stated.

Ofir Sa'ar added that Israel "calmed down" the Irish team, while Ireland came out "fired up," leading to the loss. Ziat agreed, noting that even this approach failed. Itzik Shasho recalled Ireland's recent 1-0 loss to Kosovo, suggesting Israel should have been more prepared for an aggressive opponent.

Shasho intensified his criticism, questioning the players' toughness and commitment. He highlighted instances of players like Knikovsky and Manor Solomon getting into altercations alone and questioned why more players didn't show a stronger reaction. "Where did these guys learn to play football, in a museum or in the neighborhood?" Shasho asked, emphasizing that for 70 minutes, the team was dominated and disrespected. While acknowledging Ireland might be the better team, he questioned the manner of the defeat, stating, "You can lose to them, they are better, but what is this thing?"
