Reality Star Reveals Father's Suicide After Mother's Death

Avitar Dengur, a participant in the eighth season of the Israeli reality show "Married at First Sight," shared a deeply personal story on a podcast hosted by journalist Miki Levin. Dengur revealed that his father died by suicide following the death of his mother, whom he loved dearly.

Dengur recounted how his father was devastated after his mother's passing, experiencing a decline that ultimately led to his suicide when Dengur was 13 years old. He emphasized that his father suffered from depression, describing it as a severe illness, and noted that his father was not receiving treatment. "When a person experiences depression and is not treated and their heart is broken, it can lead to difficult places," Dengur stated.

Dengur described his father's death as a traumatic event that significantly impacted his life and his approach to relationships. He explained that witnessing such a difficult event made him withdraw and become defensive when feeling insecure, as a protective mechanism. Dengur is currently on a journey to open his heart again and allow himself to be vulnerable.

In "Married at First Sight," Dengur was paired with Noy Itach, but their relationship did not succeed, and they ultimately parted ways. Dengur is also an educational entrepreneur and the founder of "Porchim Kenaf," an initiative focused on financial literacy for young people.
