Jewish Settler Arrested for Pepper-Spraying Christian Child on Yom Kippur

Israeli police have arrested a 22-year-old resident of the Ganei Modi'in settlement, suspected of pepper-spraying a 9-year-old Armenian Christian boy and his friend in Jerusalem on Yom Kippur. The incident occurred near the Mamilla Mall, where the boy, William, was riding his bicycle and listening to music through a loudspeaker with a friend. A man approached William, demanding he lower the volume, which William did. However, as William prepared to leave, the man sprayed pepper gas in the faces of both children. Bystanders called emergency services, and the family reported the incident to the police. Initially, the case was reportedly closed, but it was reopened after Channel 13 reported on the attack. The suspect was interrogated and his arrest was extended until October 1st by a court. According to the family, this is not the first time William has been targeted. Several years ago, he and his father and sister were spat upon by religious Jewish youths in Jerusalem, and his father was pepper-sprayed when he pushed one of the youths. William stated in an interview that he fears further attacks and now wears a helmet when going to school.
