Ruthie Brodo Details Personal Crisis Over Motherhood

Chef and restaurateur Ruthie Brodo, co-owner of the successful R2M restaurant group, has revealed a significant personal struggle related to her inability to have children. Brodo, who is participating in a new television project for Keshet 12, spoke with host Assi Azar about her past. She shared that after her ex-husband Matti Brodo had his first child, she experienced a profound crisis, questioning her life choices and realizing she might never become a mother. This period lasted about a year and a half, during which she considered adoption. Brodo described seeking alternative therapy, including energy healing, where she was instructed to perform a ritual expressing her grief over not having children.

Brodo, who married Matti Brodo during her military service, explained that they chose to focus their energy on their businesses rather than starting a family. They divorced in 2007. She stated that she has no regrets about not having children, emphasizing that she processed and overcame that crisis.

She is currently in a relationship with Guy Pollack, a manager and chef within the R2M group, whom she met in 2003 when she hired him as head chef for her restaurant, Cooper Bar. Pollack reportedly commented on her past emotional state, noting that she cried during that difficult period, whereas now she does not.

Ruthie Brodo is a prominent figure in Israel's culinary scene, known for co-founding R2M, which includes popular establishments in Tel Aviv such as Cooper Bar, Brasserie, Hotel Montefiore, Delicatessen, Herzl 16, and Bakery. She is also recognized for her role as a judge on the TV shows "MKR The Kitchen Competition" and "MasterChef" on Channel 12.
