Maccabi Tel Aviv held its first training session of the summer on Monday evening at Kiryat Shalom, but the expected coach, Kenny Miller, had not yet arrived in Israel. Miller is set to lead the team next season, although the club treated this as a mainly physical workout rather than a formal opening session, and allowed him to join later because of that.
The club plans to attach a staff around Miller, part of which will be new, and only after that process is completed is an official announcement of his appointment expected. Miller's absence does not reflect uncertainty about his role, since he is certain to remain and coach Maccabi Tel Aviv next season.
Dor Peretz also missed the session, and his future remains unresolved. Negotiations between him and Maccabi Tel Aviv are still ongoing, while foreign clubs are also pursuing him. Peretz himself has not yet decided where he will play.
Unlike Miller, whose position is settled, Maccabi Tel Aviv still cannot say that Peretz will be part of the squad next season. The captain's status remains an open question as talks continue.
