Grand Rabbi Aharon Brizel of Dzhirka Passes Away at 73

The Grand Rabbi of Dzhirka, Rabbi Aharon Brizel, has passed away in the United States at the age of 73 following a complex medical event. He had been experiencing declining health in recent weeks, with his condition worsening significantly in the days leading up to his death. He passed away surrounded by family and close associates in a New York hospital.

Born in Jerusalem in 1956 to a prominent rabbinical family, Rabbi Brizel was known for his deep scholarship in Kabbalah and Hasidism, particularly following the teachings of Rabbi Baruch Shalom Ashlag. He later established his Hasidic court, the Dzhirka dynasty, in the United States, with centers in Brooklyn's Boro Park and in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Brizel was widely recognized for his immense hospitality and dedication to helping others, opening his home and heart to those in need. He personally engaged in cooking and distributing food to the hungry and needy, embodying the charitable spirit of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. His study halls served as centers for Hasidim, scholars, and seekers of God.

Despite personal tragedy, including the recent death of his granddaughter at age 24, Rabbi Brizel continued to lead his community with devotion. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who continue his legacy in Hasidic communities in the U.S. and Israel.
