Senior Grand Rabbi of Kamarna-Manhattan Passes Away at 91
The Grand Rabbi of Kamarna-Manhattan, Rabbi Yehoshua Saprin, passed away in the United States at the age of 91. Known affectionately as 'R' Shea', he was a descendant of a prominent Hasidic lineage, being the son of Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Saprin of Kamarna and the grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Zvi of Kamarna. He was also the son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Menachem Rozler.
Rabbi Saprin resided in Manhattan for many years and was a significant benefactor of the Gur Hasidic movement's institutions. He maintained close ties with the Grand Rabbi of Gur for decades and was frequently honored with blessings at Gur weddings. He also contributed to the renovation and upkeep of the Kamarna synagogue in Jerusalem's Geula neighborhood, established by his father and known as 'Kamarna - Mifal HaPais'.
His funeral was scheduled to take place on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM at the Shomrei Hadas funeral home in Boro Park, Brooklyn. His coffin is expected to be brought to Israel for burial. Further details regarding the burial in Israel will be announced.
