Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Schwartz, Esteemed Elder of Jerusalem's Kretshnif Hasidim, Passes Away at 84

Rabbi Yitzchak Meir HaCohen Schwartz, a respected elder of the Kretshnif Hasidic community in Jerusalem, passed away at the age of 84 on Saturday night. Born on the 22nd of Cheshvan 5702 (1941) to Rabbi Naftali Tzvi HaCohen Schwartz and Mrs. Zisel, he was deeply connected to his distinguished lineage, notably his great-grandfather, the holy Rabbi known as the "Kol Aryeh." Throughout his life, Rabbi Schwartz faithfully preserved his family's spiritual heritage.

He married the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Miller, further strengthening his ties within the Hasidic world. Known for his humility, devotion, and scholarship, Rabbi Schwartz was a figure of great reverence among the Kretshnif Hasidim in Bnei Brak and Kiryat Ata. In his youth, he received blessings from Rabbi Aharon of Belz and maintained close relationships with prominent leaders such as the "Ateret Moshe" Rebbe of Makova, Rabbi Hershele of Kretshnif, and other notable rabbis of the Makova and Kretshnif dynasties.

While residing in Bnei Brak near the Makova study hall on Rabbeinu Tam Street, he regularly attended daily lessons led by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Shushan. Rabbi Schwartz's funeral took place on Sunday, the 19th of Menachem Av, departing at 11:30 a.m. from the Makova study hall on Rabbeinu Tam Street in Bnei Brak to the cemetery for burial. The family is sitting shiva at their home at 3 Rabbeinu Tam Street in Bnei Brak, with visitation hours from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
