UK Foreign Secretary Vows to Block Funds and Goods for West Bank Settlements

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced a series of measures aimed at curbing British ties with West Bank settlements during the Labour Party's annual conference. Miliband declared that the UK government will work to halt the import of settlement products and block British funds, construction materials, and services from reaching these communities.

Miliband stated, "We will stop all imports of products from illegal settlements," adding that Britain would also target "supply lines" of British funding, construction, and services to settlements. He emphasized that these actions are intended to counter efforts undermining the two-state solution, declaring, "This party, this movement, this government says: we will not let you succeed."

The proposed measures are part of a broader shift in Labour's approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Miliband asserting that previous policies were insufficient and that the party now intends to "match words with deeds." This stance has been evident in recent months, including the UK's opposition to the E1 settlement project in the West Bank. In August, Miliband condemned the tender for the E1 project and summoned the Israeli Embassy's chargé d'affaires in London for clarification.
