Netanyahu's Pardon Request Delayed by Attorney General, Lawyer Claims

Attorney Ilan Bombach stated on Monday that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has not yet submitted her opinion on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pardon request. "To this day, Miara hasn't even responded. She has not submitted her opinion on the pardon request submitted on behalf of the Prime Minister," Bombach said in a conversation with Avi Ratzon. Bombach further commented on the pardon request itself, suggesting it was not for the Prime Minister but rather for the prosecution regarding their "serious conduct to date." He explained that while the President has the option to disregard recommendations, a decision cannot be made on the pardon request without the Attorney General's opinion.

Bombach accused the Attorney General of deliberately delaying the submission of her opinion to obstruct the pardon request. "She is doing everything to torpedo this, to delay it, not to submit her position regarding the pardon," he asserted. Bombach intensified his criticism of the handling of the request, calling it "disgraceful, serious conduct." He expressed frustration, stating, "I cannot describe how serious this is, I feel she is operating like in Sicily."
