MK Gottlieb Accuses Netanyahu of Deal for Pardon, Shelving Judicial Overhaul

Member of Knesset Tali Gottlieb has leveled serious accusations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming in a closed event that he has a deal to receive a pardon in exchange for shelving the government's judicial overhaul. The remarks were revealed on Monday evening by Channel 12 News.

Gottlieb stated to attendees that the Prime Minister is trying to sideline her, acknowledging her high ranking on the Likud party list due to public desire for her to become Justice Minister. "But he has a deal in his hand. Write down what I am telling you: the Prime Minister will receive a pardon, provided there is no judicial reform, and provided there is no touch, not even the slightest, on the Supreme Court justices and their powers. And this is the painful truth," she asserted.

This attack comes amid Netanyahu's efforts to counter Gottlieb ahead of the Likud primaries held on August 18. These efforts reportedly include emergency discussions in his office and securing spots in the top ten of the party list, intended to weaken her position. Gottlieb has also recently clashed with those close to the Prime Minister after supporting Itamar Ben-Gvir's refusal to unite with Bezalel Smotrich. This led to a public confrontation with Yair Netanyahu, who warned of a split in the right-wing bloc.
