Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club Ownership Dispute Escalates with Legal Threats
The battle for control of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club has intensified, with CEO of "Rapid" company and main sponsor Arik Stilman launching a sharp attack against the Rikanati faction and American investor Jason Levin. The dispute centers on majority shareholder Udi Rikanati's attempt to sell significant stakes in the club to Levin, a move Stilman is legally opposing.
In a dramatic tweet, Stilman demanded that Rikanati submit emails and four versions of documents, warning of severe consequences for Levin in the United States. "Otherwise, Jason will end up in federal prison," Stilman wrote, adding that Levin would be updated on the developments.
This is not the only legal front Levin faces. VR Capital Group, holding 17.5% of the club's shares and led by businessman Richard Dietz, has filed a lawsuit against Levin's ENDVR MTA company and Guy Harel, who brokered the share purchase deal with the Rikanati family and Shimon Mizrahi. VR Capital Group is seeking $2.55 million in damages.
The pressure on the Rikanati group and its investors is mounting, and the power struggles over the "Yellows" basketball empire are expected to continue generating legal and media drama.
