Super-Pharm Overcharges Israelis on Basic Goods, Investigation Finds

An investigation by C14 has revealed that Super-Pharm, a major Israeli pharmacy chain, is significantly overcharging consumers for basic hygiene and cleaning products. The price differences compared to other pharmacies and large food chains range from tens to hundreds of percent.

The C14 report highlights five specific daily-use items where Super-Pharm's prices are substantially higher. For example, a 625ml bottle of Head & Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner is sold at Super-Pharm for NIS 27.90, while the same product is available at Good Pharm for NIS 22.90.

Similarly, a 750ml bottle of Dove nourishing body wash costs NIS 28.90 at Super-Pharm, compared to NIS 17.90 at Good Pharm. Speed Stick men's deodorant is priced at NIS 34.90 at Super-Pharm versus NIS 16.90 at Good Pharm, and Wella hair mousse is NIS 33.90 at Super-Pharm, while Good Pharm sells it for NIS 19.90.

Lady Speed Stick deodorant is also more expensive, costing NIS 20.90 at Super-Pharm compared to NIS 16.90 at Good Pharm. The investigation concludes that shopping at Super-Pharm represents a systematic overcharging of consumers, exacerbating the daily struggle with the high cost of living in Israel.

Super-Pharm has not yet responded to the findings.
