Super-Pharm Overcharges for Basic Products, Investigation Finds

An investigation by C14 has revealed that the Israeli pharmacy chain Super-Pharm sells basic hygiene and cleaning products at prices significantly higher than those found at competing pharmacies and major food chains. The report highlights five everyday items where consumers pay considerably more at Super-Pharm, underscoring the impact of rising living costs.

The investigation compared prices for specific products, finding substantial markups. For example, a Speed Stick Aqua Sport men's gel deodorant (85g) costs NIS 20.90 at Super-Pharm, compared to NIS 16.90 at Good Pharm. Similarly, a 700ml bottle of Finok Moroccan oil shampoo is priced at NIS 17.90 at Super-Pharm versus NIS 13.90 at Good Pharm.

Further examples include a 750ml bottle of Nica 7 Aroma Lavender body wash, sold for NIS 13.90 at Super-Pharm and NIS 9.90 at Good Pharm. Herbal Essences 250ml Aloe Vera hair conditioner is NIS 18.90 at Super-Pharm, while Good Pharm offers it for NIS 14.90. The largest price discrepancy noted was for a 750ml Dove Deeply Nourishing body wash, which costs NIS 28.90 at Super-Pharm compared to NIS 17.90 at Good Pharm.

C14 concludes that purchasing from Super-Pharm represents systematic overcharging rather than just occasional higher prices, presenting an unfavorable deal for Israeli consumers already struggling with the high cost of living. Super-Pharm had not yet provided a response at the time of reporting.
