Roni Dalumi Reflects on Motherhood Amidst War and Vocal Challenges

Israeli singer Roni Dalumi has announced her second pregnancy in a creative Instagram post, mimicking her first pregnancy reveal in 2023. She shared her experience of being heavily pregnant during the October 7th Hamas attacks and the subsequent war, describing her pregnancy as a form of protection.

Dalumi recounted the challenges of giving birth during air raid sirens, noting that even the day after delivery, she had to seek shelter with her newborn. Despite the difficult circumstances, she found a way to maintain a positive outlook, stating that her body's need to protect her and her daughter Dani helped her cope. She also reflected on how her daughter's recognition of her public persona impacted her.

Reflecting on her first birth with Dani, Dalumi admitted it was not straightforward, with medical staff preparing for an emergency C-section. She expressed a newfound appreciation for the miracle of childbirth. Following her first delivery, Dalumi experienced a significant vocal impairment, losing her ability to hit high notes, which caused her considerable distress and affected her stage performances.

She feared a recurrence during her current pregnancy, especially after a previous ectopic pregnancy. However, she is using this experience to further develop her vocal technique, hoping to avoid the issue this time. Dalumi is currently starring in the musical "The Diary" and plans to continue performing with her own show until late November before going on maternity leave.

Her song "Tachzor" (Return), recorded before October 7th, became an anthem of longing for the return of hostages after the massacre. Dalumi also spoke about her enduring love for her husband, ophthalmologist Alon Weissman, whom she met at 19, and her career, which began with winning "Kochav Nolad" at 17.
