Croatian media reported on Monday that Dor Peretz rejected an offer from Dinamo Zagreb after final talks with the club. According to Sponerska Novosti, the last discussion took place that day between Dinamo, Peretz, and his agent Avi Naimi, and ended with the Maccabi Tel Aviv captain deciding not to move to Croatia.
The report said Peretz’s wife played a major role in the decision because she prefers to stay in Israel and does not want to relocate abroad. It also noted that Peretz has a young child, adding that family considerations made the choice understandable.
The article said Peretz had originally wanted the move. It described him arriving in Zagreb with his wife and agent, and said Zvonimir Boban took him on a tour of the Croatian capital, which he reportedly liked. But the report added that his wife did not want to change where the family lives.
Sponerska Novosti quoted sources in Maksimir as saying Peretz thanked the hosts and apologized “10 times” for not joining Dinamo. It said he had a very hard time with the decision. In contrast, people close to the player denied the Croatian version of events.
