Renewed Calls for Shin Bet to Lead Investigation into Missing Girl

Nine hundred and forty-two days after the disappearance of nine-year-old Haimnot Kassao, a renewed demand has emerged for the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) to take full responsibility for the investigation. This call follows President Isaac Herzog's recent statement that the Shin Bet was involved in the search, a claim that proved to be limited in scope and scope, leaving the case without a significant lead.

Avigdor Lieberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has formally requested that Shin Bet Director David Zini transfer the entire investigation to the agency. Lieberman urged the Shin Bet to deploy its full intelligence, operational, and technological capabilities to re-examine all existing evidence and explore new avenues. He emphasized that as time passes, the chances of finding new evidence or reconstructing findings diminish, necessitating a different approach.

Lieberman stated that Israel cannot accept the situation of a child vanishing without a trace and that the nation has a duty to exhaust all available resources to discover her fate. The family, who have been waiting for answers for over two and a half years, are seeking closure and a thorough investigation into Haimnot's whereabouts. The police investigation has reportedly reached as far as Argentina, but the core mystery of Haimnot's disappearance remains unsolved.
